Should the microbiome be called an exosymbiont in vampire bats?

Vampire bats can flourish on a diet of blood only. Although TE-Thrust (Horizontal Transfer of Transposable Elements) is involved, their specialised microbiome is also a big factor in their ability to flourish soley on such a simple and nutrient deficient diet.

I would say no, due to the fact that exosymbiont live on the body surface and not inside gut. Logically your argument might make sense, but we need to also consider the fact that, in spite of diet, there are also complex interactions between the gut microbiome and the physiology of bat. Thus, I would never call them as exosymbiont.
