Can RNA later be used to preserve whole blood samples in order to keep the RNA intact? If Yes, For how long can the RNA remain intact in whole blood samples preserved using RNA Later at room temperature and at -20?
Yes you can use RNA later (quiagen) for the preservation of your blood samples and believe me I have used it too by storing at -80C and I have successfully isolated RNA (of course Intact) after 10 months.
Actually I don't have -80 with me as I am collecting samples from another city. It is a three hour drive from here to my University where I can put it at -80. My concern is that whether it will stay put for a few hours at room temperature (in RNA Later) or for a few days (3-4) at -20?
