Last week the data on RG Score was as under:
Week ending -5th Feb,2018 Reads-885, Recommendations-402 and the score was 15.01
This week ending 11th Feb,2018 Reads 917, Recommendations-428 and the score is 14.52
Though the reads and recommendations are increased this week, the score is reduced. If the score is not increased, actually it can never get dwindled.
In spite of sincere and serious efforts in answering as well as questioning and publications the score is reduced. In RG reputation the parameters that they have been showing are publication, Questions answers and followers

I have learnt however to always focus on and enjoy the discussions. It is your expert guidance to scholars that matters. I know your great worth which is not and cannot be measured by any score! I think it is a secret or a puzzle until we see the real equation.
More than the score, it is important to have a learning experience on RG.
Let me express my feelings of gratitude to my colleague Dickson. The frustration yesterday night was so much that I thought I will share with you all. It was ridiculous to see the score dwindling in spite of so much of interactions. Any way, God decides everything in this world. We are ordinary creatures of it.
Prof. Seth, it may be quite frustrating when you shift focus from the main essence of this platform which include exchange of scholarly publications, healthy academic collaborations, sharing career experiences through questions and answers among others. I love to learn more from other colleagues leaving behind the algorithms of RG score. You worth ma, cannot be measure by the RG score.
I focus on the platform not the score as such. the platform is getting sophisticating. however one sometimes get disappointed with the quality of questions asked by researchers. is it about generating ideas or merely conversation? does it matters?

your question "Can any one explain how exactly is the RG score is calculated?" will never get a clear answer, because if the researchers knew the RG Score calculation algorithm, they would have turned Research Gate into Research Sport a long time ago. In the end, we participate here not sake of demonstrations of our RG Scores, but to better understand our reality from other scientists on the same topic of discussion and this is especially valuable. This is very interesting. I am beginner on RG and do not have a lot of experience about these scores.
I know that the RG score is a serious problem for every true scientist ! But: as a married man and head of a greater family, I first have to settle the scores with my wife. In addition, our family dog is quite uneasy at the moment. Of course, I will do my best to boost my RG score, but I know: it is a magic measure of scientific alchemy.
This has been controversial for a long time. Best of all are the interactions and knowledge exchange, without worrying too much about the score.

Dear Dr K N Sheth, I think that the score in RG is like ATP tennis players score. There is a reduction and a bonus.
I am not sure how the computations are done because I have also experienced such before but I don't really care anymore. I just flow with colleagues here and enjoy myself.
At the beginning of registration in the RG portal, as a competitive being and wanting reward, I was connected in this criterion of increase of the score. In times when he expected a climb, the reverse happened. I was intrigued in the same way, but I did not voice my displeasure. I tried to absorb as much information and interactions with interesting articles, questions and answers from various researchers. I started to use the RG to answer what I think is interesting and possible, without worrying about score and to avoid the frustration of reduction, I always expect the score to go down, so if the reverse occurs, it does not generate any frustration, but a pleasant surprise. Take it easy. RG Score is not the end of the story. At the same time I must say that RG has nothing against you or any individual researcher. One gets frustrated because oNE‘S expectations are not met and on the top of this you don’t know how it is happening. RG Score calculation may appear as a black box but it is not. There is an algorithm that works and has not been disclosed so that people do not jack up thier scores artificially.
