I'm using 3 different light intensities (constant values 15,30,45 W) for the wastewater treatment of an organic compound and optimizing the parameters (pH, catalyst dose and light intensity) using response surface methodology. I have obtained an optimum condition for light intensity as 26W from the software. Since the light intensities are constant values, can I consider 30W as sub-optimal conditions and perform the experiments?
RSM predicted this value (i.e., 26W) as the optimized value as per the rigorous mathematical analysis carried out. You can't use 30W and perform your analysis since this will again result in an error in your final results. Either you don't take light intensity into consideration during optimization of the parameter (i.e., take only 2 parameters i.e., pH and catalyst dose, and use 30W light intensity as constant). To support your result you can find literature supporting the fact of using 30W light intensity.
In another case, if you need to use all three parameters in optimization then you need to control the light intensity by using any electrical regulator to make it 26W intensity.

Nope, U cannot use 30W instead of 16 W.@ Brother if you are using three parameters then you have to use the RSM predicted value (i.e. 26W) otherwise error will be present in Your final result.
If the result of the wastewater treatment parameter doesn't have a significant difference for each light intensities ( 15,30,45 W), you can consider choosing any light intensities or used 26W as a prediction from RSM. I suggest you do verification of each parameter recommendation from prediction value RSM
The optimum conditions for pH and dose are calculated with 26 W. If you use 30 W, there will be variation between your predicted and observed values. A better approach will be :
During optimization, you can put a constraint for intensity (i.e., fix it as 30 W, use your DOE results or literature to support this value) and then find optimum conditions for other two parameters. The optimum value for pH and dose will now be calculated at 30 W intensity and the difference between experimental and predicted value will be lesser.
