We are doing a study on impact of aerosol on precipitation. Which satellite data and which wavelength will be the best. or can some one suggest a criteria to be adopted to choose an instrument /wavelength
The main criterion is data availability. 550 nm is overwhelmingly the most reported wavelength from satellite obs (MODIS, etc.) or reanalyses (MERRA2...). In any case, AOD at other wavelengths can also be derived from Angstrom's law because the Angstrom coefficient is also reported in those databases.
I suggest you using the AOD data from the NASA AERONET network. The best option is comparing more wavelengths so you can study also possible variations.
