Antibiotic, DMEM, and FBS ideally should be stored separately. DMEM at 4°C and FBS & antibiotics at -20°C.
During complete media preparation, as mentioned you can prepare the required amount in 50 ml falcon tubes: DMEM - 44.5ml, Antibiotic 0.5ml, and FBS 5ml for 10% complete media preparation and store in 4°C. Complete media once prepared will be good enough for 2 weeks at 4°C. Do not store DMEM in -20°C .
thanks. I have added 5ml of antibiotic to the whole 500ml of DMEM. So, I will be aliquoting (DMEM+antibiotic) in 50ml tubes (20 tubes). Those 20 tubes containing DMEM+antibiotic can be stored at -20 degree for later use?
Ideal storage for DMEM is 2 to 8 degrees. Hence, i recommend you to store the falcon aliquots at 4 degrees rather than -20 degrees. Thanks.
