I am using SmartPLS to check validity and reliability. Can I first do Factor analysis through Jamovi and then continue the other process (Validity, reliability, loading) in Smart PLS? Is this approach sound okay?
I don't know why you would want to switch from covariance-based factor analysis to PLS. This seems like it would be inconsistent. The two approaches are not the same/not comparable statistically. I don't see any compelling justification to switch to PLS after conducting a covariance-based factor analysis, especially since reliability, validity, factor loadings, etc. can be analyzed within the framework of covariance-based factor analysis/SEM. As a reviewer, I would find it odd if these things weren't analyzed within the same framework.
Hi, Bijal! It depends what you want to do in SmartPLS. If you want to develop a PLS-SEM model there is no need to perform an EFA before developing the model. If you want to test a CB-SEM model in SmartPLS, of course, you can continue the analysis in this software. Even the factor analysis can be performed in the current version of SmartPLS.
Yes, it's a sound and commonly used approach — use Jamovi for exploration, and SmartPLS for confirmation and evaluation. Just be consistent and clear about the purpose of each step.
Tamanna Sain Hi Tamanna! It must be highlighted that is a commonly used approach for CB-SEM, not PLS-SEM. Of course, the analysis can be continued in SmartPLS, and the CB-SEM model can be validated with the help of this software.
