I am a new PhD candidate considering a sequential mixed methods research (MMR) design in the area of client-loyalty to professional service providers.

Please give me your opinion of the advantages and disadvantages of the following two research design approaches.

·         QUAL-QUANT. An exploratory qualitative phase involving semi-structured interviews. From this develop a model tested quantitatively by a survey.

·         QUANT-QUAL. Develop a model and test it quantitatively. Then carry out a qualitative phase involving semi-structured interviews to make meaning and add richness from the data.
