I'm looking to try out an off-the-shelf EEG set for some exploratory work. Curious if anyone has used the OpenBCI, and how much set-up work is required. I've heard they are more difficult to get up and running, but would like to hear anyone's specific experience.

Betsy, hi. OpenBCI hardware has been used in many many research projects. An advantage of these systems is that they are completely open source with open and free access to the raw EEG data stream. Some manufacturers charge substantial and recurring fees for raw stream access. Check out the list of citations on this page,
