I wanted to confirm if I can use spin columns of QIAquick PCR purification kits for DNA extraction. We finished our DNeasy columns but still have reagents. And we have extra QIAquick columns.
I personally feel that it shall work but need an expert opinion.

The column from QIAquick binds up to 10 ug of DNA with a maximum fragment size of 10kb. not sure about the DNeasy column, I assume it will bind up to 20 ug of plasmid DNA up to 50 kb in length.
Yes it should work
Classic mini rep columns bind up to 100ug of DNA but other than saturation capacity they are pretty much the same
If you do decide therefore to use a spin column for DNA purification do not over load as you might not then elute any DNA from the column
Try purifying say from 5mls of over night culture to prevent this from happening
Thanks Laurence Stuart Dawkins-Hall. Its a great help. Im just extracting dna from 50ul saliva. So i assume that the maximum dna i will get should be less than 100ug.
