we want to use our vibratome for cutting untested patient material.
What we are looking for now is a small hood that provides both UV sterilization and an air filter (in both directions) to protect us and the samples. However, the available workstations are not deep enough and only offer air filtration in one direction.
What we discussed so far:
- custom made (--> pretty expensive)
- self-made (--> no air filter)
- cell culture bench (--> no space)
Can anyone recommend something? How are you protecting yourself when working with patient-derived material?
I hope certified biological safety cabinets (Class I, II, or III) may help you. Some of them are negative pressure isolators. They protect surrounding environment, personnel, samples also. For your information, some manufacturers of Bio safety cabinets are ESCO, BIO BASE, thermofisher. i hope it might be useful to you.
If you need 2 way filtraion, you may need to install 2 extra filters at the exhaust side of BSC with some customization of Air tight, non return dampers & HEPA filters.
