I’ve encountered with a severe problem.
I’ve created an equipment in Aspen Custom Modeler (ACM), and exported it to aspen plus for completing a flowsheet by connecting this modeled equipment to other blocks in aspen plus.
My problem happens when I want to use from Optimization tools in aspen plus. I think that, optimization a flowsheet that contains a custom modeled block can only be done by Aspen custom modeler optimization tools. But my complete flowsheet is created in aspen plus, because of containing some special equipment’s such distillation column.
Have someone any experience about this matter that could help me?
If you can't solve the problem, I recommend you to use Aspen Plus - Matlab (or phyton or VBA excel or Java) connection through COM technology (look at first attached link for Matlab -Aspen Plus V10.0 example) and try to optimize your flowsheet by Genetic or Particle Swarm algorithms (also called bio-inspired or Derivative-Free optimization algorithms). Non-Sorting-Genetic-Algorithm II, is widely accepted and recommended (look at second attached link for NSGA II in Matlab). As well as deterministc algorithms (Non-Derivative-Free), derivative free algorithms also handle constraints and integer variables (very useful to optimize number of stages or/and feed stage in disitillation columns).

but my problem isn't selecting appropriate method for optimization. my problem is about optimization ACM created blocks and aspen plus blocks in a flowsheet simultaneously.
