When we culture COCs (cumulus Oocyte complexes) for IVM (in-vitro Maturation) Cumulus cells show morphology similar to fibroblast cells. have few queries:
1. Could we consider them fibroblasts?
2. what are fibroblast specific markers so that i can say these cells are fibroblasts only?
3. I never passaged them , could they be passaged?

Cumulus cells can not be considered as fibroblasts, they are originated from the follicle granulosa cells and because of antral fluid some cells become surrounding the oocytes (named: Cumulus oophorus cells) and the other cells are on the periphery of the antral follicles (named: mural granulosa cells).
In fact, if the cumulus expansion is not good, some cumulus cells can attach to the culture dish and show morphological similarities with fibroblasts and they can divide until confluence and you can passage them. In addition, cumulus cells have mesenchymal stem cells criteria and can spontaneously differentiated.
