My SDS-PAGE gel had many blue spots in the region below 40kDa, obscuring all protein bands in this region (see picture). Could someone explain to me what was the problem and how to fix it?

The gel composition was 4% stacking and 10% running. It was stored for 10 days at 4 degrees Celsius before running at 100V in the stacking gel and 200V in the running gel. The gel was stained with CBB and de-stained in several days with demi water.
