Mica is known to be activated for silanization through argon/water vapor plasma. On the other hand, glass slides can be activated by UV light. Is it possible activate mica slides by UV radiation?
@Peter. Thanks, but I was not searching for photoactivation. My curiosity was about the effect of UV radiation on mica's surface, before to deposit silanes on it. Someone says that mica can be activated by washing in Piranha solution; someone says that UV allows the exposure of OH groups. I'd like a clear reference for the effect of UV light on surface chemistry of mica. Thanks!
