Yes it's true.. we can see our children are not like to be in contact with another peoples.

In my view, people are connecting with more people in real time through social media. This would have been difficult without reach of social media.
One always try and meet others in person based on need.
Social media is providing a platform to build aquaintrance and friendship with diverse people across various countries.
if one uses social media too much (contacting nearby friends and far away friends), then there is less time to socialize with local people.
Any technological resource must be used rationally. Social media should be used objectively and with interesting purposes: exchange of information, photos, communication with people in distant places. What you should not do is use social media to harm people. Despite its positive action, we must strike a balance between social media and everyday life. Hugs, handshakes, eye-in-eye conversations and live perception of people and family are still essential for a healthy life.

Like it or not, the social media influence every aspect of daily life much more than we think they do. Although many contend that every social encounter that is not face-to-face may deteriorate family life and personal relationships, I personally believe that association with social media need not to be this way. Our social tools have both merits and demerits. it is up to us how to meet their challenges. The much needed modern life transformation requires the social media for us to share information and increases our awareness about the way others feel and think. This can be great if and only if we do not become addicted to them.

The growth rate of social media is unexpectedly very high. Specially Facebook and Twitter have grown much faster and captured millions of users in just a few years. Just like anything which can be used for both good and bad, social media have also provided the negative and positive ways for the people. It is all about the usage and getting things done positively by using the power of social media specially for childern and students !!

Well, our decisions in life is a choice. Overuse means wrong priority. Discipline is key even in Social media. let's strive to balance our priority to avoid anti-social tendencies.
Except as a tool to allow needed communications, I am not a fan of social media.
We must understand that these programs are designed to do so hence the use must be limited and better to start de-addecting with them
Every technology has its positives and negatives, every technology must be dealt with very carefully in order to make use of its positives and immune against its negatives. Same problem appears on the introduction of every technology (TV, Internet, Satellite TV broadcasting which causes horrible events all over the world..... ).
The technology and its applications have the purpose to enable as per design. The end-user is the one who has to decide on how it is used, or there should be a kind of authority who should control the use and its purposes. So, in this case the control body are the family heads specially if we are talking about the technology smart generation. Will social media distort the social relations, it depends how the kids were raised to use such ICT application. If the distortion is due to the peers, it goes back to the parents and their relations with their kids and checking on the eco-net of friends... So, it is a typical view to see cousins visiting each other, and in 2-3 minutes, each one is busy with their cellphones... The days of kids creatively looking for how to play, even with minimum resources, are gone!!
I think it really depends. If you are an extrovert and not shy then being a lot on social media may take time away from the stuff you like doing going put and connecting with others. But on the other hand if you are at home and you must be for whatever reason using social media can help you connect to amazing personalities. I connected on various sites with hundreds of really helpful people who are in various stages of their career and it is really educational. So it offered me a chance to connect with loads of researchers - find some really good groups and networks which makes me really happy. And when I am happy I am more sociable. When I am not happy then I really struggle to talk. But it is kind of a self perpetuating cycle. The more you do the more you need to read and the more you read the less time you have with your loved ones. It is easy to tip out of balance.
I like the way you wrote Katja, and yes to your last statement. What if someone simply believed that there is more value in social media than the value with the people surrounding you! There is the tip out of balance specially if it happens with very young individuals!!
I hardly socialize with friends physical as I am always stucked to my room because of social media addiction. I have lost couple of friends and some are distant from me now. I am now making serious changes in my schedules to accommodate close relatives and friends. Anyway, there is always a price to pay for everything. However, we must always put into fruition, the import of the old adage whenever we are using the social media:
'Too much of everything is bad. '
Absolutely right! Social media are making people unsocial. Now it's more usage becoming dangerous addiction too.
the exponential growth of social media in our day to day life has creaded may problems. the empirical studies on the subject have shown that people who spend a lot of time on social media are at least two times more likely to feel socially isolated. I believe it also levelled the playing field somewhat. So back in the days you need to have your elevator speech ready for the opportunity. Now you can tweet or blog and anyone can take your idea and turn it into something useful. I really like it as a creative tool, so if you enjoy it it is useful. If you begin to get sad or irritable then you should go and spent less time on it. I think there is no time limit most introvert people can spend hours on video games, reading books or watching sports or television as well. As long as they're happy I would not be concerned. Happy mental health!!!!

I think that a lot depends on the person. Even every medicine is a medicine in certain doses, but may be a poison after overdosing. Those people who can control their involvement is social networks can benefit from them. But if they go to far, they often stay along with computer for communication and rarely see other people physically. Computer helps to find new contacts, but too many contacts is also a problem of free time.

I agree with that observation! I am sharing a hotel room with a friend right now but i have spent more time chatting on social media than i have spent talking to him. Anti-social.......... Isn't it?
The main purpose of social media is to offer their expression & personal views & in certain case they may also arrange the views of certain members of society to offer their opinion & with all the discussion ,media , give the conclusion ,however it has been observed that in certain cases media for publicity make their own argument express their own views with all the conveyancing manner with certain viewers may not like it & in this case the viewers may avoid such social media .

It really depends on what social media is used for. From an academic marketing perspective, social media has opened doors far beyond what any more traditional marketing medium has ever achieved, at a much lower cost and especially for smaller businesses. Mediums such as Linkedin is great for industry networking and events while Instagram, for instance, is a purely social medium. Point is, not all social media makes us antisocial, in fact, Linkedin and even Facebook, if used appropriately could be very advantageous.
It depends on the way how you define the term "unsocial" and which kind of "social media" use is involved.
Then, who are these "people"? Were these people "sociable" before the social media use had started?
What is meant by the term "make someone unsocial": is it about forcing, allowing, persuading, tolerating, or creating a habit of being "unsociable"?...
I am intentionally making this simple question look complicated, but that's the point I would like to make: social media is just one IT tool out of many, and the effects of tools depend on their Master.

I tend to agree. Face to face is lost, and as we play out our roles in society, some tend to get very selfish in their cruel statements online, but never would of shared this face to face. When it becomes easier to talk to a computer than a person, are we being social?
I think the so called social life is redefined. The traditional definition is nearly gone.
It's making people social in a different way. While it makes people feel connected with those at a distance, it can also give another level of connection to those we are physically close to as well. I wouldn't say it is making people antisocial or less social - it is redefining what it means to BE social. I will say it is making interpersonal communications and face to face interactions more difficult than I think it should be.
Similarly, it is providing connections that can be leveraged for benefit which I studied in project for my Masters thesis. Students who were more "connected" via social media accounts of the university and the library were more likely to understand and utilize services offered by the library than those who did not connect. Awareness and connection being the goals of the library social media accounts - we saw this as a positive.

Dr Muhammad Ali Khan Nagar , I partially agree with your statement. It is true that we are really busy with social media, as a result we have inadequate time for socializing. On the other side of the coin, social media helps us to maintain the communication with distanced people.
Humans may be able to talk, but the good way we communicate and are understood includes body language; tone; inflection; facial features and more.
Social networking has transformed the way we interact and met with others. However, it is the very threatening situation to a most of the people that due to the addiction with the social media websites and apps such as Facebook, Yahoo, Tinder, Line, Vine, and many others, we are losing interaction in real lives with other people who even are very close to us.
People miss the conversation with their real life friends because they must want to see themselves on social media platforms and make selfies even add filters into their photos, he added while talking with the CNBC.

Social media can and should be used as they are the product of the time we live in. But as something that needs to replace any other cumming, it is very dangerous for a man as a being who evolves with time, but the basic elements must and has preserved with the passage of various phases.
I'd say, the social media make people 'e-social', i.e. nowadays, the concentration of the social life goes to the digital platforms. That being said, every 'message/like/dislike' is still written by real persons with their emotions and thoughts. The messages are written by the real people, the users. It is just is a modern expression of today's social life. So, our lives are still very social but the tools of their expressions have now transferred towards the digital technologies. Social media are the product of technology development and of course they are part of our communication. Their impact on the realization of different human needs and needs is positive, since it creates and facilitates their realization faster. But from a social point of view, these media create powerful communication bariaries among people. Blocks, passives, basic human communication with man, who has existed in all times of the development of the human being.
