I´m currently working with energy storage materials. I want to know how the enthalpy value of this material is affected after several hours under a certain temperature (samples in oven). The models I´ve found so far are related to the heating rate and melting point (Kissinger equation). Since I used the same heating rate to calculate enthalpy for all my samples and the melting point doesn´t change drastically, it´s not so clear how I can use this equation or if in any case I´m using a wrong model. Is there someone who has already worked with something similar? Thank you in advance.
If you want to model how enthalpy of fusion varies with melting point, you may use van't Hoff equation. From the DSC enthalpy values, you can calculate the activity coefficient (correction factor) since van't Hoff assumes the ideal case. I'm not sure how this works with Kissinger equation since it is usually used for calculating activation energies by performing experiments at several heating rates.
Ruel Cedeno Thank you for your answer, using Kissinger equation was just an assumption since I haven´t found any other model that could fit my DSC measurements. However, I didn´t change the heating rates, so that´s the reason why I didn´t know how to use it. I´ll check the equation you mentioned, is there any paper about this topoc you could recommend me to read?
