A colleague recently tested his melanoma (ME1402) cells for mycoplasma and obtained some strange images of rod-like structures - quite different from the 'dot-like' beads on a string look of mycoplasma. Please a look at the attached image and provide some insight.

Regarding the shape of your "dot-like beads", they could correspond to mycoplasma cells but it is difficult to confirm without a scale. Then, to be absolutely sure, it is better to use detection kits. Good luck!
As suggested I would also use a kit, otherwise design mycoplasma-specific primers and do a PCR (we did this in my old lab).
The only way to ensure is to do a PCR of the cell supernatent. One can buy ready-to-use PCR kits for detection of mycoplasma at different companies.
