I have been running Western blot of whole lysate from Corynebacterium glutamicum to detect my biotin labled protein but instead I have been observing cross-reactivity of the anti-biotin with endogenous proteins that are not my protein of interest. I have been doing literature search but I haven't been successful in knowing the identities of these cross-reacting proteins
There seems to be at least one biotinylated protein in C. glutamicum--an analog of E. coli biotin carboxyl carrier protein. See GenBank: U35023.1
Living organisms contain few biotinyl proteins. Most abundants are biotin-dependent carboxylases such as the biotin-subunit of acetyl CoA carboxylase (BCCP). Some prokaryotes also contain biotin-dependent transcarboxylases and decarboxylases
