Available manual methods for extracting DNA from formalin fixed specimens are time consuming and laborious. Please let me know is there any Kit method for extracting DNA from the formalin fixed tissues?
I've spent the last 3 years evaluating different kits to extract FFPE DNA. The qiagen FFPE kit is good but the columns sequester a lot of DNA and you have more loss of DNA. I find the kits with magnetic beads provide less DNA loss than column methods, but then you need a magnet and or a machine. MoBio has a good kit that you can do manually:BiOstic® FFPE Tissue DNA Isolation Kit, its in column form. I really like the quality and quantity of DNA that comes from Promega's FFPE+ LEV DNA extraction kit, but it requires a machine. Most of the world uses the qiagen kit, they have a new version that does DNA repair, which actually causes problems in my sequencing assays...depends on what you want to do with your DNA. I am more than happy to help answer any questions you might have.
