Hi There are several associations, where you can find guidelines and other materials managing a repository: - COAR: Confederation of Open Access Repositories, which states on its website: brings together individual repositories and repository networks in order to build capacity, align policies and practices, and act as a global voice for the repository community: https://www.coar-repositories.org - OpenDOAR: Directory of Open Access Repositories:
http://www.opendoar.org, with tools and support Additionally, I would recommend the following paper:
Fernández-Ramos, A., & Barrionuevo, L. (2021). Value-added services in institutional repositories in Spanish public universities. Information Research, 26(1), paper 895. https://doi.org/10.47989/irpaper895 Here you can find „Data collection instrument: the checklist“ (Information on the repository, Instructions for use and dissemination) among others.
I hope, that this will be helpful for you. Best regards Anne-Katharina
Some great information from Anna-Katharina, I am doing some research at the moment on IR's in the NHS in England. One thing we know is that it is relatively easy to get data on repository usage, downloads and deposits, either from the repository software or / and using google analytics. I think what is missing from this analysis is:
1) what the users understand the role of the repository to be, their level of knowledge about repositories and the wider issues that drive them such as Green Open Access, how using the repository might benefit them and their institution for example by raising the profile of their research and making a version of the research available free to users increasing access and usage.
2) what drives the setting up of a repository may not be sympathetic to the needs and aspiration of researchers, for example institutional needs to have a repository rather then researcher needs who ultimately will contribute the content. One insight from repositories in higher education was that depositing in a repository simply did not fit in with the way researchers behave. It was alien and external rather than integrated into the research process. Many simply are not aware of their IR.
I have included a bibliography compiled for the project which might be helpful.
