Currently I am modelling uniaxial tapered specimen undergoing forward creep test. I am solving this as a contact problem where 2 pins are pulling the specimen (1 pulling and other is stationery). Due to non-linear nature of this problem, it takes incredibly long times to converge.
Ideally I would avoid modelling this relatively simple case as a contact problem. Therefore, is there any easy way how to apply pressure load in 1 direction only ? I have tried applying pressure load on the surface and constraining the surface in all other directions apart from y-direction. Is there any "better" way?

Dear Janis you could use MPC constraint and use the *EQUATION option by linking those nodes to a master node in the centre of your pin (where the arrow points). You can force those nodes to follow the displacement in the only Y direction. This would allow you to avoid the contact, in addition if you want to apply a fixed displacement this will be done by simply increasing the desired load at the "master" node.

you could do the following:
1. go to "Fields" -> "Analytical Fields" -> "Mapped field". There you can define the pressure load based on XYZ coordinates.
2. there is an option in the window that pops up where you can define the coordinate system. If you change the Coordinate System to a one that has the Y direction in the desirable direction, then the pressure will be applied accordingly.
