Lysosomes are primarily involved in degradation and recycling processes. For still unknown reasons they are apparently also releasing their content into the extracellular space by means of a Ca2+-regulated process termed lysosomal exocytosis. Is there any method that can be used to measure/quantify the rate of this process in cultured cells?
