In Alzheimer's disease mouse model behavior test (open field, Y-maze, water maze etc.), is there behavior difference between male and female 5xFAD mice which affect data result and get conclusion?
Anyone who does Alzheimer's disease experiment with 5xFAD uses only one sex (commonly male) ?
I heard that female is not good for behavior test because menstruation affect their behavior.
Can I use half male and half female 5xFAD for behavior test and get mean value?
Because I have so stress in breeding only one sex 5xFAD mouse. It needs bunch of B6, SJL, Hybrid, 5xFAD mating.

There are often sex differences in the behavioral tests you list. I don't have specific experience with 5xFAD mice. It is true that the estrous cycle can affect behavioral data. This is addressed by testing females at the same stage, or testing each mouse at all stages. Some do not monitor estrous stage at all and just accept whatever variation they get, but some reviewers may be critical of this approach. There is a tremendous need for more female data on a variety of topics, including Alzheimer's. I would try as much as possible to include females in your studies, using half of each sex with adequate samples sizes to see effects in each.
