I am working on lung cancer project and we are planning to perform IHC on tissue sections from mice lung cancer tissue. We are coating the slides with silane. Is it important to clean the slides by washing the slides in chromic acid/ extran and water before coating them with silane.
In my previous lab we coated the slides with poly l lysine and did the pre washing step with chromic acid. So I think it would be beneficial to do the pre washing step to make the slide grease free and clean before coating.
Will it be useful ?

If your slides are not clean - it would be best to wash (sonicate with detergent) rinse and dry them before coating them with silane.
On the other hand - why not purchase silane-pre-coated slides instead ?

silane is H radical donor, impurities will reduce the desired effect of bonding between the section and the slide.
Have you tries simply coating clean slides with a thin coating of albumin/glycerol fixative? This tissue adhesive has worked very well in many labs for some 70 years or so. It shouldn't interfere with your IHC protocol whether it be fluorescence or immunoperoxidase.
It is better to be in safer side, hence washing the slides before coating is needed as unwashed slides may have dust particles, silica particles attached onto it.
