Since we have no medical cure, we are limited to various lockdown measures. Some see lockdown as an extreme fully engaged measure, but I see levels of lockdown from mild to strong - see Article COVID-19 Lockdown Easing and Restricting Color Framework for...
Lockdown is not necessary in lot of parts once people are educated well about the virus. I go to work everyday, keep precautions, touching doors, wearing mask and gloves whole day, washing hands, keep other person away 1-2 meters, no personal meeting, meetings thru Zoom or skype. Lockdown is necessary like in slums in Bombay where it is necessary to treat all people in hot spots
Yes, lockdown is the best option to control the spread of coronavirus. Practicing social distancing is the other way to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Lockdown, social distancing, use of face mask, frequent hand washing (every time you touch a surface, money, a button of lifts, etc) are the main options to prevent COVID-19.
Every government, they use the lockdown policy as the only option to prevent from spreading of airborne transmission and that include social distancing because COVID19 is a very dangerous that no one knows where it comes from.
It's the only option in such a country who has nothing to stop the COVID-19 spreads only with the lockdown. If you do not have a good health care system and prepared hospitals and staff, you have to lock down the whole country to prevent them from this virus.
Although lockdown is not the only option for fighting Covid-19 pandemic. Massive vaccination, maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, washing your hands with soap and water or sanitizing your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizer regularly, etc. also help to fight Covid-19
Achieving hard immunity through vaccination is a good way to go. 'Herd immunity', also known as 'population immunity', is the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection. WHO supports achieving 'herd immunity' through vaccination, not by allowing a disease to spread through any segment of the population, as this would result in unnecessary cases and deaths. Herd immunity against COVID-19 should be achieved by protecting people through vaccination, not by exposing them to the pathogen that causes the disease. https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/herd-immunity-lockdowns-and-covid-19
I am not sure about it but I am sure that lockdown is the only option to sit at home and enjoy all facilities. It's pathetic for those working in the unorganized sector or working on a daily wage basis. I have seen people avoid taking vaccines in February and March when Government requested. Now the same people are running for the same. Initially, the lockdown was important to raise the infrastructure but now we have the infrastructure but awareness is not there. Awareness is the only option to control this pandemic.
The lockdown is the only option in some countries when the people does not follow the roles of health authority in wear a face mask, social isolation, and do not take the vaccine.
Lockdown it's an effective way, but besides it WHO recommended many preventive measures like face masks, use sanitizer/soap, prop up immune system etc.
Lockdown unviable, COVID-19 vaccine the only solution. Lockdown only adds up to economic misery and affects the livelihoods of many who barely survive with wages.
