Is knowledge transferable through DNA ?

Some people call it instinct; But isn't that knowledge transferred from one generation to another through DNA?

I was very interested in the recent news about lab mice passing on knowledge through a generation. It is indeed surprising. Send "cherry blossom shock mice " to news.google.com. I knew that "hard-wired" instinctive reactions were passed on, but I did not know that learned (taught) reactions could be.
