Why did the paper "Wnt signaling controls the specification of definitive and primitive hematopoiesis from human pluripotent stem cells" using KDR to define hemangioblastic?
I am new in blood development, so many things confused me^^^^oh my god!
VEGFR2, also referred to as Flk-1/KDR, is expressed not only hemagioblasts (hematopoietic stem/precursor cells) but also endothelial precursor cells (EPCs). So, you have to keep in mind that CD34 and VEGFR2 are expressed in EPCs. Further, the expression level of VEGFR2 is gradually decreased as the differentiation goes on.
