In cancer cells due to increase metabolism so increase cancer cells thermal degree and decrease PH. Is there a sensor or a method that could detect this difference and diagnose cancer at the early stage.
It is not easy to use change in temperature as a method to diagnose cancer. cancer cells are not the only cells with high metabolism. Liver cells have high metabolic rate and are the main source of heat in the body. How can we detect the difference between hepatocytes temperature and cancer cells temperature? This method is not selective. The low pH is associated with solid tumors (millions of cells) not single cancer cells. Even in solid tumor, cancer cells at the periphry of the tumor have normal pH. only cancer cells in tumor core have acidic pH. Again this method lacks selectivity.
The tumor microenvironment is acidic due to Warburg effect (aerobic glycolysis) and metabolic symbiosis. The final metabolic product pyruvate and the transported lactate via monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) are mainly responsible. Metabolic symbiosis results in the heterogeneity in tumor cell metabolic behavior and some of the cells uptake lactate and use as the substrate of TCA cycle in mitochondria. There are some papers that acidity reflects the poor prognosis of cancer patients. LDH inhibitor leads to the attenuation of acidic microenvironment. Thus, several LDHA inhibitors are being tested for their anticancer activity
For diagnosing cancer not inside of body. Like CT scan or sonography that performed ,Is it possible to design a sensor that feels and records the temperature of the cell out of body?It can recieve the temprature of body cells Throughout the body from Feet to head. If a group cells have high temperature we can check its reasons.
Hi Dr, except inflamation and cancer and "Liver cells have high metabolic rate and are the main source of heat in the body" said Dr Talib above, may other place in body have high temprature?
