I was wondering if it's alright to use the same incubator and BSC for mammalian cells and yeast cells? Or is this a bad idea considering contamination? Thank you!
I don't think using the same incubator would be a problem as you are supposed to incubate closed culture plates (cross contamination is not expected in such situation). BSC is more problematic unless you know exactly what is the condition of the equipment by the time you use it... If your are the only user then you know the history of it. Otherwise it's a little bit of a dangerous game...
It mainly depends on type of your organization. If you are working on a student job, you can avoid contamination with precautions but in terms of GMP rules you are not allowed to do so. Remember that yeasts have enough resistance to dryness outside of culture media and contact with outer surface of vessels can be the source of contamination.
