I'm working with peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and I want to know, should I thaw them with media for PBMC or I can use any other? For example media for fibroblasts, because after centrifuging I'll discard it.

You are correct but you should not keep these cells more than 30 minutes. You have some changes in growth factors and other accessory metabolites to interfere with cell metabolism. It is better to use ringer solution or use simple saline for keeping the cells for longer period.

Yes, temporarily you may use any other media because after centrifugation you discard it. Sometimes I do this and never had a problem.
