We can imagine the abuse of antibiotics ((antimicrobials against bacteria) across the globe.
End result is antimicrobial resistance due to frequent exposure of bacteria to such chemical agents and running out of antibiotics when it is really required to treat even simple cold and fever (of bacterial etiology).
We humans often forget that these microbes have been on this planet much before human existence and they already know the basic structure of these chemicals when they came across each other millions of years ago!!!!
My answer is yes...but administration of antibiotic must not be systematic (because the risk of microbial resistance)... it depends of the situation ( individuals with COPD,cardiac defficiency ,etc.) and in many cases physiotherapy is a good solution in first intention.
