The paper entitles "Estimation of Inertial Parameters of Manipulator Loads and Links" presented by C. G. Atkeson, C. H. An and J. M. Hollerbach in 1986, is one of the first works done on the estimation of inertia parameters of the robots. It is cited by many other papers (according to google scholar 295 papers) and presented interesting ideas and results for estimation of inertia parameters of robots. As I found this paper isolated the last link dynamics from other elements (as Eq. 16 suggests) but it doesn't make sense for me. Some one may argue that interactions are applied though the total wrench (Eq. 12) but if so what is the difference between the first link and the last one.

One may conclude that "the formulation presented in this paper is not accurate or may be is not correct" and "the reason of poor estimations of this paper is such over-simplifications". I appreciate it if anyone make comment about this conclusion.
