Is Charge Transfer in Molecular Systems are same as charge transfer in 2D/3D heterojunction??

I have read the book "Charge and Energy Transfer Dynamics in Molecular Systems" by Volkhard May, Oliver Kuhn. I am unsure that the photophysics used for the mentioned molecular systems can be used for my experimental reasons in a 2D/3D heterojunction.

I could be wrong, but the concepts might overlap here and there. However, they are not directly interchangeable. Charge transfer in these two systems likely differs due to distinct physical mechanisms, dimensionality, and material properties involved ~they're unlikely to be the same, I'd guess.
