Is anyone familiar with protein metal nano-structure interaction?

I found few reports, which explain about enhancement tryptophan fluorescence of proteins . Simultaneously, there are other reports which tells that interaction of metal nanoparticles (e.g. gold and silver) showed quenching in protein fluorescence due to interaction. these creates confusion. can any one suggest any specific condition when enhancement and quenching. is there any good reference which explain about mechanism of both phenomenon.

BSA get attched to the surface of GNPs. Nanorods and smaller size GNPs shows fluorescence enhancement. Reducing agent and Concentration plays role in this study.
