The UK MRC brain banks, including the sudden death bank, provides tissue only after 48 hours. The tissue needed is quite vascular and will not be suitable to culture after this time. Any help would be appreciated.
Neurosurgical excisions of tissue surrounding epileptogenic loci is probably the most common source.
Fetal abortions is another.
Both have their issues to consider.

Tissue from epilepsy resections is the best bet. Check the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust website list of neurosurgeons and contact the ones who do epilepsy surgery.

I specifically wanted to obtain some choroid plexus tissue. I suspected that this isn't routinely removed unless there is a choroid plexus papilloedema. The difficultly then would be seperating the normal from the abnormal tissue.
Is there any other neurosurgical procedures that would result in the removal of healthy choroid plexus as part of the normal clinical course?
