I think the main goals/subjects of the research in the next decade will be: energy, artificial Intelligence, food security, climate change, aging of the population.

New visual devices.

The research includes three types of limits, namely objective, temporal, and spatial limits. These limits are linked to the idea and purpose of the research. The different disciplines of human and applied sciences are subject to change with the rapid change in research techniques, making it difficult to set firm limits.

We can not say the frontiers will be in one dicipline. I think there will be great developement in every aspect of research such as materials, nano technology, medicine, space, agriculture, robotics, etc.

In the horizon of anthropological sciences, I think that the most important and relevant epistemological issue for the future, is build a bridge who permit the relation whit the sciences of public policies and particularly the anthropology of engagement whit the sciences of decisions.

There is likely to be faster pace of research in medical technology, unidentified medical diseases and their treatment, space technology, computer , electronics, reliable manufacturing systems. Food and Agriculture is likely to be new thrust area. There is likely to be lot more interdisciplinary research to solve future problems.

For next decade research is related to Society.

Sustainability will remain for another few years..

According to my knowledge, topics such as solid waste management, production of solar hydrogen and wastewater purification through economical methods should be considered for the secured future.

Again depending in which field it is related to, but I can tell you for sure “Blockchain and Digitization” is going to touch every industry by 2025 and beyond. I am publishing another (2nd in series) article on Blockchain which will talk about it. Please Feel free to follow.

For my country (México) is urgent that people understand the members of government are the force for resolve the public problems and the citizens needs a collaborative perspective for take decision for policies that are urgent like not put in hands of the political class the central decisions for be a country in the first development of the world.

Whit this vision is urgent that the social scientist became an applied disciplines, like the anthropology of engagement at USA; but the national force of investigators don´t be the first force on the streets and directly at agencies whit theirs investigations, just do a letters who the poverty population never reds… the SNI force need to be this just if their problems and their investigation have a real application directly for put away the main causality that produce the basics social problems.

I think the future research directions will be focused on trying to reduce the global climate change problem and its negative impact on agriculture particularly in Africa.

Genomics will be the future of medical research. Gene-based medicine will allow treatment based on specific genotype.

I agree with Amir W. Al-Khafaji's answer. Autonomous vehicles are going to be a major research area. I also think that blockchain and cryptoassets will be a major area of study. Specifically, I think that blockchain will be at the crossroads of monetary theory, technology, politics, and law.

We need to disappear the traditional concept of university and transform them for one organization that concentrate the process of social planning directly whit social alliance and whit all the actor: why because the universities today are like the parties and government a group of elite, a group of interest and pressure who just fight for the pleasure of being and academic without direct social compromise, they are worried for be the privilege class and today exist like a group of power that don´t help the society whit their power in the hands; every day them stay in the in academic organizational atmosphere.

Research should focus on solving the real life problem. Today 90% of patients and research goes unused . In addition, we should nurture and practice open innovation concepts and ideas.
