For more illustrative cases, I usually use Inkscape; it is free and easy to learn. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube.
Also PowerPoint seems to be a good solution, because it is very easy to manipulate different objects as arrows, contours, shadows and so on.

Juan Fernando Hernandez, after making CAD, you can use a keyshot for rendering. Additionally, inkscape for 2D. And freeform 3D (non-parametric) use Blender.
