In other words, if such protein-protein interaction (IKB-alpha/NFKB-P50) was blocked, would IKB-alpha continue to be phosphorylated ? and subsequently be degraded allowing NFKB-P65 to be translocated into the nucleus and regulate NFKB target genes.
What if IKBa were NOT allowed to bind to P65:P50 complex, would it still be phosphorylated and degraded? In other words, upon stimulation, are the processes of phosphorylation and the subsequent degradation of IKBa independent (or dependent) on the IKBa/P65:P50 protein-protein interaction ??
