Our balances are calibrated to UKAS standard annually. We currently check these balances on a weekly basis using a range of check weights from 0.1g - 20000g dependant on the range of the individual balance.

I am interested in how other production units perform this. Do you pre-load the balance with a suitable weight and then tare before applying loads to mimic the weighing operation?

Do you only apply loads that reflect the amounts that you would weigh? i.e. minimum we would weigh on one of our balances is 100g, is it pointless is test with 0.1g, 0.5g, 5.0g, 50.0g?
