If we have limited access to a freezer, can saliva samples be kept at -24C for up to 1 week until complete and then transferred to -80C?

How many times and at what speed should centrifugation be performed to examine a-amylase, lactoferrin, total protein and Ig-a levels in saliva? In addition, is it possible to freeze the samples at -24 C and transfer to -80 C after all samples are complete (about 1 week)?

Hello Cemre,

For these type of proteins, I would check the stability of these proteins in -24C, some enzymes are less stable than others and may get degraded faster. The best solution is to check previous research and see what are their recommendations to preserve these types of proteins in -20C and for how long you could store them.
