Hello everyone, I use QIAamp DNA mini kit from human blood. I have still fresh reagents but my colums are over. I look to QIAgen catalog but I can't find any product replace to the colums. Do you have any recommendation for new columns?
It always happens with all ready to use kit for DNA, RNA and plasmids. You can purchase extra reagents but getting column only is difficult. We never reuse the columns for nucleic acid isolation but yes for protein particularly Ig purification we reuse protein A column.
I will recommend to buy new kit as quality of DNA is the most important parameter and soul of any molecular biology experiments. Also we can not take any chance by reusing the column as your source is human blood.

At the very beginning in the 90th some companies sold columns separately from buffer but in the meantime you can only buy kits. Buy a new kit and discard the buffers, its always better to use new buffers with the columns. You never know whether by evaporation the conc. of salts/alcohol remains o.k.
The reuse of DNA columns is only wise if you purify the same plasmid several times or blood from the same person, otherwise you will have contaminations.
Actualy you can purchase extra columns from Zymo Research, catalog number: C1003-50. I'm used to combine it with QIAamp DNA mini kit and it works fine.
