Supposing you are looking for vital cells, not autopsy material: What about contacting neurosurgeons who are removing tumors consisting of, or "contaminated with" Schwann cells!
Unless you plan on harvesting them on your own off a schwannoma, I believe Commercial procurement is thr only option as the tumour is rare. Few of the commercial options for primary HSwC being innoprot, Accgen, and ixcells biotech
Forgive my lack of acquaintance with the precise meaning of the term "primary" human Schwann cells, please. And about how such relate to tumor, say schwannoma, or stem cells.
I am grateful to anyone clarifying this question of terminology.
Hello Sumit K Singh we've been trying a few commercial options, but shipping is an issue. Trying to figure out a way for the same. Thanks though for being so helpful :)
Franz Schelling Sir, as per our requirement, "primary cells" would only qualify as ones which do not originate from/lead to tumors in any way. "Primary" should most likely resemble to original cells in behavior, morphology, phenotypic and functional characteristics. Also, "Primary" cells in cell lines format have a limited lifespan, for example, up to 8-10 passages, so essentially they are not transformed intrinsically to thrive indefinitely.
Though, I'd also agree, there have been reports that stem cells have potential to be differentiated into schwann cells and various other types on basis of growth factors added so as to nudge them towards a specific direction.
