Tuvshintugs Baljinnyam for primary cell culture , we have access to tissue samples and cancerous serum samples , can we use the pooled cancerous serum instead of FBS to culture tissue samples ?
Theoretically speaking, your idea might work. However, you may want to consider the following points :
1. The batch-to-Bach differences_ because you will have different patients, suffering from different types of cancers, and probably having different health conditions. These differences are expected to be shown in the serum content.
2. Patients combating Cancer are immuno-compromised, and their serum might have a wide range of microorganisms that could be a big problem in cell culture.
3. Serum obtained from the blood of patients with Cancer may affect and support cell growth differently from the FBS due to the expected differences in the content of the hormones and cytokines. Therefore, other researchers will not be able to replicate your results!
Yes it is possible and result will be great for study. As serum will release molecules those effect or progress cancer. Only for culture and you can make antibodies dilutions as well.
I think you can pool cancerous serum to be used in cell culture instead of FBS or normal human serum, because serum obtained from the blood of patients with Cancer may affect and support cell growth differently from the FBS by adding special molecules react with cancer cells.
