I mixed 60 vol% boron carbide (B4C), 25 vol% titanium diboride (TiB2), 10 vol% silicon carbide (SiC) and 5 vol% alumina (Al2O3) powders in jar mill for 12 hours using toluene as mixing medium. The average particle size of the same were 5.37μm, 8μm, 0.5μm, 2.5 μm respectively Subsequently, I performed XRD for the mixed powder. However the XRD analysis showed TiB2 having maximum intensity among all the powders. Logically B4C should show the highest intensity as it is the prominent phase. I checked the densities of all these powders and found that TiB2 is having maximum density. So my question is what are the possible reasons behind TiB2 showing maximum intensity.
