Hello everyone, When I have tried to solve quick example on Ansys, iterations took too much time and I think my CPU behaved strangely. The frequency is stable but the CPU %use is waving between %35-95. Is this normal? Because I remember CPU useages were constant when I was solving something on FLUENT before.
Do you have any periodic file input/output (writing field files, datafiles,...), such that disc writing could limit speed? Or otherwise, do the dips coincide with times where exchange with RAM may be more intensive?
Cees Haringa No I don't. There was no speed limiting nor another .exe running. I always try to shut down every single .exe there was only HWMonitor running to check temperature. Everything were stable expect temperature and CPU percent useage. Temperature was also waving between 60-95 degrees C same time with CPU. Forgot to mention that Mechanical ADPL was not responding during the computing.
But if the temperature was oscillating in coincidence, than this is most likely a CPU throttling due to bad cooling of your computer. Modern CPU's reduce calculation intensity, frequency or are switching off some isolated cores if the CPU gets too hot and is in danger to get damaged.
