Hi, ive desined an array of antennas with 8 elements. When i sımulate it i got this error message in CST "Waveguide ports must be aligned with Cartesian coordinate planes for the transient solve". The desingn is like that below. Any idea would be so helpful. This is my 1st time to use array so i kinda dont know what to do. Thanks in advance
Waveguide ports must be parallel to one of the axis planes, and if they are rectangular, I think the edges have to be along x, y, or z directions too. If your antenna inputs aren't like this, you can use bent feedlines to connect the ports to the antennas.
Malcolm White thank u so much for your reply. The antennas are connected to SMA and there are waveguide ports at the end of each SMA. How can i make the edges along x y and z? Like Ive tried making one of the antennas port axis directions same with the local coordinate system but still i cannot render it.
Can u suggest any video that shows how to make a bent feedline? If you do i'd really appreciate cuz im in hurry to complete my thesis.
You can do a rotate-extrude on the end of the cable to get a bend on the end of it. It has to line up with the global coordinate system. It is very fussy about it being exact, so you may need to cut off the end across an axis to make sure. The mode won't be very different if the end is slightly elliptical.
Yo have to use cylindrical bend feature. Set local WCS system correctly to bend .

If you are trying to make a circular structure of an array in which you encounter a excitation port in circular curved nature, we feel fallowing step will be help full. Waveguide ports must be parallel to one of the axis planes for this First thing center point of port location must be align to an cartesian plane this can be done by aligning local coordinate. Secondly draw a coaxial line along the axis perpendicular to the port surface and extend it into circular structure of an array up one diameter length of coaxial line. next you draw a cylinder align in axis of circular structure of array having same diameter as circular structure of array. now subtract this newly drawn cylinder from coaxial line , you will get a coaxial line having one end curved profile as your circular structure of array and touching it. at the other end if coaxial line a plane surface, at this end you can apply waveguide port excitation. picture of final curved profile coaxial line is given her for your observation. a little curved bend at coaxial line end will not much affect the propagation mode.
