I'm using fluent to simulate a bubbling fluidized bed, recently I have a question since the bubbling bed is very unstable, so the parameters we usually use to represent the bed is stable seems not very reliable for this case, do you have any other parameters to show that the bed is statistically steady conditions, and I can use the time-averaged- value for my comparison with experimental results.
Best fit data analysis software like STATA or Curve Finder with a significant Co-relation may use your purpose .
I could imagine to either use the volume integral over the solid phase in the bubbling fluidized bed. And if this is still a fluctuating quantity, than to use a sliding time-average of the same volume integral over a certain time intervall. At least the latter should become a stable quantity, otherwise there is probably no sense to speak about statistically steady conditions.

I think that you need to monitor over flowtime the outlet BCs as well as the volume-averaged parameters such as (1) pressure drop, (2) velocity, (3) temperature, (4) species concentrations, etc. When those parameters reached stable or fluctuation around a stable value, you can say your BFB is steady-state.

Thomas Frank Actually, I also get confused about what is the reasonable time size for the averaged-value. I try to get the time-averaged voidage and gas velocity value for 10-15s and 16s to 20s, however, still a little difference between each time size. In some cases, the differences are quite obvious.
Son ich ngo Thank you so much for your answer. Normally if you choose the volume-average value is quite stable, however when you want to use the time-averaged value to show your results, you can still see it fluctuates with time. different time sizes can result in different profile
