I would like to use my western blot membrane after re-probing (mild stripping) but I don’t know if will be able to use it often. Is there a way to store nitrocellulose membrane over the months after the transfer? Can anyone help?
Use paperclips to clip the stack together on the edges. Place the stack in a plastic bag and seal the plastic bag closed. Store the blot at 4 ˚C for up to 2 weeks, -20 ˚C for up to 2 months, or -70 ˚C for longer storage.
I would recommend to store in -20, in closed plastic bag as Wiwiek sayd. We experienced that for the best pictures after storage the buffer should be removed as more as possible , but the membrane should not be dried.
I agree. I would propose to store the buffer-moistened membrane in a sealed plastic bag or foil at 4°C for shorter periods (e.g. 2 weeks) or at -20°C for longer time frames.
