If youhave  a record of voltage  signa, then you can screen pulses between  sparks  and  arcs  and microshort circuit pulses. (arcs and  microshort circuits do not contribute to materal removal)

For the steady state signal  and considering that  sparks only remove material effectively, determine  the effective sparks per unit time (min).

Devide the rate of material  remova  rate l/second  by the number of  active sparks  per second,  the result will be the material removed per single spark.

For the simulation, there are primarily investigations on individual pulses because the melting / boiling conditions can be defined more clearly here. In order to simulate the complete removal, there must be clear definitions where the subsequent pulses are removed. This is possible by means of an intermediate-time calculation of the electric field strength in the working gap or by a random principle, with larger gaps being temporarily excluded.

Simulatively, however, they can not obtain the time conditions (even with simplified ablation conditions) that are obtained with a real EDM. Then you would have to adjust the simulation time register with the real time schedule.

With the Micro-EDM, the "problem" is that the individual pulses differ more from one another, so that the maximum pulse removal multiplied by the active pulses only results in a maximum ablation, but can be far from real ablation.

Excuse me, one more remark, arcs naturally carry material, in extreme cases more than the sparks, i. If they can not totally exclude the arcs, then they would have to take into account. For this purpose, however, a completely different single-pulse simulation would be necessary. How great their error is, depends on the percentage of the arcs.
